Trip Overview

Rolwaling Valley Trek lies between the Everest and Langtang Himalaya ranges. It is below Gauri Shankar and the south border of Tibet. This region lies between the Langtang range and the Everest range. Rolwaling Valley trekking is one of the hard passes in the Everest Himalayas.

The trek offers diverse highlights, including beautiful alpine valleys, traditional villages, and panoramic mountain views. Trekkers can experience glacial lakes, hanging glaciers, waterfalls, high pastures, and dramatic moraines, all set against a backdrop of snow-covered peaks.

The first recorded Western exploration of the Rolwaling Valley was in 1951, led by British mountaineer Eric Shipton during an expedition to survey routes toward Mount Everest.

Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest or explore the nearby areas. In the evening, a short briefing about the trek will be provided.

This day is reserved for rest, final trek preparation, and permit arrangements. You may also explore cultural sites and local markets in Kathmandu.

A scenic drive takes you through hills and rivers to Chetchet. From here, the trek begins with a steady ascent to Simigaon, a traditional Sherpa village with beautiful mountain views.

The trail continues through dense forests and terraced farmland, gradually ascending along the Tama Koshi River. You will reach Kyalche, a peaceful settlement surrounded by nature.

Today’s trek offers stunning landscapes as you enter the Rolwaling Valley. Beding is one of the main villages in the region, rich in Sherpa culture and surrounded by high mountains.

This day is important for altitude adjustment. You can explore the village, visit monasteries, and enjoy views of Gauri Shankar.

The trail gradually climbs through alpine terrain to Na, a small settlement used mainly for seasonal grazing. The surrounding views become more dramatic.

A day hike to the stunning Tsho Rolpa Lake, one of the largest glacial lakes in Nepal. After exploring the area and enjoying the views, return to Na village.

Descending through the valley, you retrace your steps back to Dongang, passing through forests and riverside trails.

Continue descending through beautiful landscapes and traditional villages until you reach Chetchet.

A long but scenic drive brings you back to Kathmandu, where you can relax after completing the trek.

According to your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure, marking the end of your Rolwaling Valley adventure.
