Trip Overview

The Poon Hill Trek is a short and popular trekking route in the Annapurna Region of Nepal. It is famous for its beautiful sunrise view of the Himalayan mountains. The trek goes through small villages, forests, and terraced fields, allowing trekkers to experience local culture and natural scenery. The main viewpoint, Poon Hill, lies at an altitude of 3,210 meters (10,531 feet) above sea level. Because the trek is not very difficult and usually takes about four to five days, it is a good choice for beginners who want to enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas.

Detailed Itinerary

The journey begins with arrival in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. After landing at the international airport, you will be welcomed by the trekking staff and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is mostly for rest after the long flight.

This day is set aside for preparation before the trek begins. You can check your trekking gear, arrange permits, and make sure everything is ready for the journey. If you wish, you may also explore parts of Kathmandu and experience the local culture and markets.

Today you travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara, either by flight or by road. The journey offers scenic views of rivers, hills, and rural landscapes. Pokhara is known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful lake views, and it serves as the main gateway to the Annapurna trekking region.

After breakfast, you drive to Nayapul, where the trek officially begins. The trail follows a gentle path through villages and farmland, passing small settlements along the way. The final part of the day includes climbing a series of stone steps to reach the village of Ulleri, where you stay overnight.

The trail continues through beautiful forests filled with rhododendron and oak trees. During spring, these forests are covered with colorful flowers. The path gradually climbs until reaching the village of Ghorepani, a well-known stop for trekkers heading to Poon Hill.

Early in the morning, you hike to Poon Hill to watch the sunrise over the Himalayan mountains. As the sun rises, the peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri turn golden, creating one of the most memorable views of the trek. After returning to Ghorepani for breakfast, the trail continues through forest ridges to reach Tadapani.

Today the trail descends through forest paths toward the traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk. The village is known for its cultural heritage and excellent views of the Annapurna mountains. After exploring Ghandruk, you drive back to Pokhara for the night.

After breakfast, travel back to Kathmandu by road or a short flight. The rest of the day is free for relaxation, shopping, or exploring the lively tourist area of Thamel.

This is a free day to relax after the trek. You can spend time exploring the city, visiting cultural sites, or enjoying local restaurants and markets.

Your journey comes to an end today. You will be transferred to the airport for your final departure with memorable experiences from the Poon Hill trek.
