Langtang Valley Trek, located in central-northern Nepal’s Bagmati Province, is a renowned trekking route known for its breathtaking Himalayan views and rich cultural experiences. The name “Langtang,” meaning “Yak Pasture” in Tibetan, comes from a legend of a monk who discovered the valley while searching for his lost yak. This moderate trek, usually completed in about a week, passes through lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional Tamang villages, and lies within Langtang National Park, home to rare species such as the red panda and unique medicinal plants, protected since 1976.

Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After checking in, take time to rest and recover from your journey. In the evening, you can enjoy local cuisine or prepare for the trek briefing. Overnight in Kathmandu.

This day is dedicated to trek preparation. Your guide will conduct a detailed orientation, explaining the trekking route, daily schedule, safety measures, and altitude considerations. A full equipment check will ensure you have all necessary trekking gear; anything missing can be arranged or rented locally. The rest of the day is free for relaxation or light sightseeing, such as visiting Pashupatinath Temple or Boudhanath Stupa. Overnight in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley. The journey passes through terraced fields, rivers, and small villages, offering an early glimpse of Himalayan scenery. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and relax. Evening can be spent exploring the village or preparing for the trek. 

Start trekking through mixed forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron along the Langtang River. The trail gradually ascends and offers views of waterfalls and terraced farmland. Stop for lunch at a teahouse along the way. Reach Lama Hotel, a small settlement with lodges and tea houses. Enjoy dinner while watching the surrounding mountains.

Continue trekking uphill through dense forest, crossing suspension bridges and streams. Enter the Langtang National Park, known for its wildlife and alpine scenery. arrived at Langtang Village, a charming settlement that was partially rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake. Explore the village and interact with locals before settling in at the teahouse. Overnight in Langtang Village.

Today’s trek is shorter, allowing you to acclimatize. Walk through alpine meadows and enjoy panoramic views of Langtang Lirung. Upon arrival at Kyanjin Gomba, check into a local lodge. You can visit the famous Kyanjin Gompa (monastery) and explore the surrounding area. This afternoon is ideal for rest or light walks to enjoy the stunning landscapes. Overnight in Kyanjin Gomba.

Take a rest day to acclimatize further. For those feeling energetic, hike up to Kyanjin Ri, a small peak nearby offering spectacular panoramic views of the Langtang Range and glaciers. Return to Kyanjin Gomba for lunch and relax in the afternoon. This is also an opportunity to explore yak cheese factories or local monasteries. Overnight in Kyanjin Gomba.

Begin the descent through the same scenic trail, retracing your steps through forests and past rivers. Enjoy the changing vegetation as you descend to lower altitudes. Arrive at Lama Hotel by evening, relax, and share experiences from the trek. Overnight at Lama Hotel.

Continue descending along the Langtang River trail through dense forests and small villages. Enjoy your last day of trekking, taking in the final glimpses of the valley and mountains. Arrive at Syabrubesi, check into your lodge, and rest. Overnight in Syabrubesi.

After breakfast, take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the mountain and valley landscapes along the route. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the evening shopping or relaxing. Overnight in Kathmandu.

A free day in Kathmandu allows you to explore cultural sites, markets, or relax before departure. Optional activities include Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Patan Durbar Square, or souvenir shopping in Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey. Say farewell to Nepal with memories of the Langtang Valley and Himalayan adventure.
