Alternative Nepal Treks Expedition
Breath-taking, high-altitude adventures led by record breaking mountaineers.
This is who we are
At Elite Exped, mountains are more than just our profession. Climbing is our passion, adventure is our lifeblood, and the Himalayas are our home. Run by three record breaking mountaineers - Nirmal ‘Nimsdai’ Purja, MBE, Mingma David Sherpa and Mingma Tenzi Sherpa - we exist to help others learn from our experiences, and to pass on a love for the peaks that inspire us every day.
This is who we are
Elite Exped specialises in delivering tailored guiding experiences on the world’s highest mountains. We’re here to help you to follow in our footsteps in some of the toughest terrain on the planet.
Each of our company directors, Nimsdai, Mingma David, and Mingma Tenzi, has notched up Guinness World Records for their feats in the Himalayas. All three were part of the first team to stand on the summit of K2 in winter, in January 2021. Elite Exped grew out of their long standing climbing partnership, a friendship forged by record breaking feats in some of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.
But Elite Exped isn’t just a company created by world class mountaineers, it’s a company created by world class Nepalese mountaineers. Our heritage gives us a unique perspective on the mountains - one that combines a desire to conquer summits with an ancient, ancestral respect for them.
The Himalayas are our place of work, but they’re also the place where many of our friends and families live. We believe that these mountains should be open to anyone, but they must be preserved for everyone to enjoy.
Our Team
Our team At Alternative Nepal Treks Expedition Pvt. Ltd.we want to raise the bar for adventure tourism in Nepal. Our team is made up of some of Nepal’s most experienced outdoor leaders, all with a passion to make…

Pasang Sherpa
Pasang hails from a small mountain village in the Kanchenjunga region. He began training as a mountaineer at the tender age of 6 with the daily hike to school. During childhood he moved to a district called Sankhuwasabha, exchanging the shadow of Kanchenjunga for that of Mt. Makalu. Pasang has been leading trekking and mountaineering trips in Nepal since 1996. The ‘high point’ (forgive the pun) of his career came in 2005 when he successfully summit Mount Everest 8,848.86m. He repeated the feat in 2008, 2012 and 2019 conquering Mount Everest for the fourth time. Pasang added Makalu ,Lhotse Cho Oyu and Annapurna I to the growing number of peaks under his belt in 2009 to till still now. When Pasang is not leading trips high in the Himalaya, he can be found teaching at the local climbing wall, passing on his skills and experience to others. Pasang has also climbed extensively in the Austrian Alps.

Manish Rai
Director
Manish comes from a small village in a remote region called Sankhuwasabha in the north east of Nepal. He began his rafting career in 1995 and his river-baptism occurred during a Sun Kosi trip in 1998 when a flash-flood flipped his gear raft and washed him down the river for seventy-odd kilometers before he managed to drag himself to shore. He saved the beer though. Needless to say, Manish is a lot older and wiser these days but still hasn’t lost his passion for adventure. He has spent the last Seventeen years as a international trip leader, leading river trips in Turkey, Laos, Japan, Thailand and Europe as well as all over Nepal. When he’s not rafting, Manish enjoys trekking in the Himalaya and discovering new trails – both on foot and on his mountain bike.
